Cryer Elevator
The Cryer elevator is a dental surgical instrument used to remove broken roots, especially in molar extractions. It has a triangular, pointed blade with a sharp working edge designed to engage the root surface and apply leverage against the surrounding bone. Cryer elevators are particularly effective when one root of a multi-rooted tooth has already been removed, allowing the instrument to use the empty socket as a fulcrum to elevate the remaining root. They are commonly available in right and left versions to provide better access depending on the tooth position. Made from high-quality stainless steel, Cryer elevators are durable and widely used in oral surgery procedures.
Cryer Elevator #1L
The Cryer #1L (Left) elevator is designed for the removal of broken roots in the left side of the mouth, particularly during mandibular molar extractions. It features a triangular, pointed blade angled to the left, allowing the dentist to engage the root and apply controlled leverage using the surrounding bone or empty socket as a fulcrum.
Cryer Elevator #1R
The Cryer #1R (Right) elevator is the right-angled counterpart of the #1L. It is used to elevate and remove root fragments on the right side of the mouth, especially after one root of a multi-rooted tooth has been removed. The angled triangular blade provides strong leverage and precise control.
Cryer Elevator #4L
The Cryer #4L (Left) elevator is similar in design to the #1L but typically has a larger or heavier working blade, allowing the clinician to apply greater leverage when removing larger root fragments or molar roots on the left side of the mouth.
Cryer Elevator #4R
The Cryer #4R (Right) elevator is used for removing larger root fragments on the right side, particularly in mandibular molar extractions. Its right-angled triangular blade allows the dentist to engage the root surface and elevate it from the socket using controlled rotational leverage.
